Toward Liberty: Karl Hess Documentary on YouTube

April 4th, 2007 · 1 Comment

From Freedom’s Phoenix, via Wally Conger. This is a great documentary about Karl Hess, which won the Oscar for Best Short Documentary in 1981. Hess was a former speechwriter for Goldwater before becoming a libertarian. The documentary is presented in three parts, and approximately 30 minutes in total. It will be worth your time to see.

Part 2

Part 3

Note: I have updated the above videos to reflect their new location. As a bonus, here’s another Karl Hess Clip. This one is from Anarchism in America.

Thanks for posting these, Presto. Brings back fond memories. I saw him speak at American University in the late 70’s. It was a treat to hear someone say what I’d been thinking back then, and to know that I was not alone. At AU back then, the big division among 90+% of the faculty was whether they were Marxists or unorthodox Marxists.
